Started in 1979, Smith Fence Company was founded by Reginald Smith in rural Riverside. Coming to America from England with little more than the shirt on his back, Reginald soon found a demand for quality fences at affordable prices. After working for a few local fence companies, Reginald decided that he should open his own fence company, thus Smith Fence Company opened its doors to the Riverside Community.

It is about this same time that Reginald and his wife Mary welcomed their son Chris into the world. Never dreaming Chris would follow in his footsteps Reginald began taking Chris on estimates and later on job sites with him. It was in these early years that Reginald saw Chris’s knack for fencing. It was not long before Chris began working full-time with his Dad.

In just a few short years of business in San Diego County, Chris has realized some of the same success that his father has realized in his 40+ years of service. Chris has seen his life come full circle, as he like his father has had not only one son but two and a daughter, Zack, Nick, and Allison who Chris and Reginald hope to be the 3rd generation of Smith Fence Company for the Smith family.

All of the wood used for our Dog-Eared Cedar, Board on Board, Cap & Trim, and Cap & Trim with Lattice fences are purchased from Master Halco & J&W Lumber Company, a purveyor of fine fencing products to Southern California for over 50 years. All of our Chain Link fence is purchased from again, Mater Halco and Builders Fence Company a respected and revered member of the community for 50 years in their own right. We use nothing but the best from the best for our customers, at the most reasonable prices!

Rest assured that when you go with Smith Fence Company you are getting a fence that is going to last. We build every fence as though it were going up in our own yard…Now how many fence companies can look you in the eye and say this? All of our wood fences are constructed with Post Master posts and screws are used to attach the frame to the post. Ring-shank coil nails NOT staples are used in the boards. ABSOLUTELY NO STAPLES!!!! By doing this we can assure our customers of a fence that will not fall apart or blowdown. Our chain-link fences are fabricated out of galvanized steel, which assures the customer that their fence will not rust and they won’t have to worry about their kids or pets playing around a health hazard.

Just in case you were having trouble making up your mind, here are a few of our customer recommended styles. Our customer’s choice for a favorite wood fence is our Cap & Trim style fence. The Cap & Trim style is composed of cedar boards with a redwood cap and trim. It gives your yard an extra touch of class, with its clean and professional look, all at an affordable price. When a Cap & Trim fence goes up it just seems to become the talk of the neighborhood. Another hot item that is a customer favorite is our Black-Vinyl Chain-Link. It is similar to its sister Common Silver Chain-Link but is covered with a coat of vinyl which, when erected, seems to be less obtrusive to your view than the silver and is quite the hit and often a pleasant surprise to our clientele.
